ULTRA Bow Roller

Our ULTRA Bow Roller for controlled anchor alignment and smooth recovery

The ULTRA Bow Roller is designed to support reliable anchor deployment and recovery while reducing wear at the bow. Built for long-term marine exposure, it combines stainless-steel structure with low-friction rollers to improve seating and alignment. It is especially effective as part of a system using an ULTRA Anchor and a matching swivel.

Key performance features

  • Delrin rollers are designed not to deform over time, minimizing maintenance.
  • Reduces noise, impact, and surface scratches during recovery.
  • Retaining hoop (inverted-U) limits unwanted anchor movement at the bow.
  • Designed so a separate chain canal is not required.
  • Roller chute in polished 316L stainless steel, roller car in polished 318LN duplex stainless steel.

Design and construction

  • Body material: 316L hand-polished stainless steel.
  • Roller material: Delrin, designed to keep its shape over time.
  • “Chain channel" concept is intentionally avoided to support cleaner alignment behaviour at the bow when used with an ULTRA Anchor and swivel.
  • Retaining hoop keeps the chain guided and limits extraneous anchor movement; for best performance it should fit snugly to the anchor.
  • Connection holes are left to the installer to match the boat’s geometry

FAQs

What is the purpose of the ULTRA Bow Roller?

The ULTRA Bow Roller is designed to guide the anchor and chain during deployment and retrieval while helping to maintain proper alignment at the bow. By supporting controlled movement, it can reduce wear on both the anchoring equipment and the vessel.

How does the ULTRA Bow Roller help protect the vessel during anchor recovery?

A properly aligned bow roller helps minimise impact loads, unwanted movement, and metal-to-metal contact during retrieval. This can reduce noise, surface damage, and wear around the bow area while supporting smoother anchor handling.

Why are Delrin rollers used in the ULTRA Bow Roller?

Delrin is a high-performance engineering material known for its low friction and wear resistance. In bow roller applications, it helps provide smooth anchor and chain movement while maintaining its shape and performance over extended periods of marine use.

What is the function of the retaining hoop on a bow roller?

The retaining hoop is designed to keep the chain and anchor guided during operation and limit unnecessary movement when the anchor is stowed. Proper guidance can help improve stability at the bow and support more predictable anchor recovery.

Why is anchor and swivel compatibility important for bow roller performance?

The bow roller, anchor, and swivel function as an integrated system. When these components are correctly matched, the anchor can align, self-correct, and seat more naturally during retrieval, helping to reduce stress on the overall anchoring arrangement.

Why do some bow rollers use an open design instead of a chain channel?

Open bow roller designs can allow the anchor and swivel greater freedom of movement during retrieval. This may help support natural alignment and self-correction, particularly in anchoring systems where the anchor is designed to rotate into a specific position before seating.

What materials are commonly used for high-quality bow rollers?

Marine-grade stainless steels and engineered polymers are commonly used because they combine corrosion resistance, durability, and smooth operating characteristics. These materials are well suited to the demanding conditions encountered in marine anchoring systems.

How do I choose the correct bow roller for my anchoring system?

Selection should take into account the anchor type, anchor size, swivel design, available space at the bow, and the vessel's overall anchoring arrangement. A bow roller should provide sufficient clearance and support smooth deployment and recovery without restricting anchor movement.
