ULTRA Chain Grab

Our ULTRA Chain Grab for load relief and quieter anchoring

The ULTRA Chain Grab is designed to be attached to a loaded chain to help manage constant pull in an all-chain anchoring setup. It reduces chain noise at anchor and supports safer, calmer operation on board. The chain grab is easy to attach to a taut chain and able to disengage automatically during retrieval if it passes through the bow setup.

Design and construction

The ULTRA Chain Grab is designed to be attached to, or removed from, the chain even when it is under load. Made from 316L stainless steel, it spreads the load across the engaged chain link to help avoid local overstressing or deformation. In all-chain rodes, it also helps dampen chain whip and reduce noise at anchor by absorbing and managing the constant pull in the system. 

  • The Chain Grab may pass through the bow setup and disengage even if left on the chain. 
  • Using a snubber is recommended in an all-chain rode to act as an absorber and transfer surge loads to a deck cleat rather than the chain-handling equipment.
